I don’t know about you, but I’m happiest at home, with an audiobook, and either sitting at my sewing machine or on the couch with an embroidery in my lap.
Thread Folk began thanks to a Secret Santa gift for my sister-in-law, who thankfully appreciates a handmade gift as much as I do! Back then, the focus was cross stitch family portraits. She loved hers. She told others. Instagram was in its golden days when people actually saw the photos you posted. Soon enough, I had a stack of orders to keep me very busy, while parenting little ones.
Cross stitch soon evolved into embroidery and I felt like I’d really found my thing. I have spent years designing embroidery patterns, compiling embroidery kits, collaborating with some truly incredible artists and having way too much fun teaching others to embroider at some of the most beautiful workshop venues in Australia.
When I’m not embroidering, I’m usually sewing. Mostly garments, sometimes quilts (totally novice quilter here). I have a Diploma in Branded Fashion Design and thoroughly enjoy adding my own creations to my wardrobe. I also have a love for sewing costumes for my kids - yes I’m *that* mum come Halloween time and the school book parade!
I’m a mum of four boys and wife to an artist. Our life is loud and busy and I love it! We are part way through a year of living in Canada but are normally based on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia.
Disneyland is our Happy Place!!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m always open to collaborations and commissions, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested in working together.
